knit 1 : how to slip knot and cast on to start your project.

 

The first step in knitting is to make a slip knot and cast on stitches.  There are two ways to cast one: with one needle or with two needles.  I’m gonna teach you how to cast on with one needle.  It is an easy and a fast way to start.

Leave a long tail depending on the number of stitches you are going to make.

1. Form a loop using the working yarn around your left thumb.
2. Hold one knitting needle in your right hand.  Insert the point of the needle inside the loop.
3. Wrap the yarn tail around the needle, counter-clockwise.
4. Bring the thumb loop over the needle point.  Tighten the stitch.

 

You have just made your first stitch!  Easy, huh? Continue making stitches by the same method until you reach the number of stitches needed for your project.
